Although we have worked hard to maintain daily operations and continue to provide vital, in person services to our community it has been a challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to cancel our two largest fundraising events of the year. Costing CALICO over $100,000 in crucial funding for abused children and families. Unfortunately, child abuse is on the rise. Experts predict there will be a dramatic increase in child abuse reports once the shelter-in-place restrictions lift. While the demand for service is increasing, CALICO is working with fewer resources. With so much uncertainty, we are preparing for our work to get more difficult and it is vital that we prepare now to be able to quickly meet this surge of cases when it occurs.
