Online Sexual Abuse of Children: Investigating Internet Crimes Against Children

Adults who abuse children often create fake personas to communicate with youth for sexual gratification and exploitation. This year, speakers will train on the newest and most used websites related to child exploitation and internet crimes against children, current trends on the internet that lead to exploitation, and will present a case study.

The Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is part of a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 3,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. Speakers will talk about resources used by ICAC Task Force investigators, the importance of cross-discipline collaboration and resource sharing, the most used websites related to child exploitation and internet crimes against children, current trends in the internet that lead to exploitation, and present a case study.

Fighting child exploitation and human trafficking is a priority for the FBI. Agent Parker will give an overview of the SF Bureau’s Crimes Against Children Squad, Operation Cross Country VII, and what assistance the FBI can give local law enforcement and DCFS in sex trafficking and exploitation investigations.

The head of our county’s medical portion of AC-CART will discuss when and how to refer a child for a forensic medical sexual abuse exam and the county’s protocol for forensic medical exams.

If you are unable to join us at the Collaborative Training let us know. We can refund the cost of the training ($25.00/$35.00) minus a $15.00 cancellation fee.
